Team Fortress 2: Sniper vs Spy Update

Most people reading this blog, will of heard of Team Fortress 2, designed and produced by Valve using the Source engine, allowing a whole new style of graphics and gameplay. Frankly speaking, there isn't really a story in Team Fortress 2, merely just a vague piece of information about how you are mercenary's, fighting for evil companies trying to take over the world. However, Team Fortress 2 doesn't really need a story, aside from "point weapon at enemy" then "kill enemy", often ending in a series of well thought out, hilarious deaths.

Now recently, those who play or follow the game, and those who were considering buying the game, would of realised that Team Fortress 2 now "comes with the Sniper vs Spy update". Now this update has possibly been the most controversial of all, as with the update came the loved by some, hated by others, random weapon drop system, where at random points in the game you are given a randomly selected weapon to use. Some loved this, as it meant easy pickings, however, most players of Team Fortress 2 hated this, as it often meant you didn't earn the weapons, and it was all down to luck.

Now with the update came 3 new Sniper weapons and 3 new Spy weapons. For the Sniper, there is the: Hunstman's Bow- although not as powerful as the Sniper rifle, the Hunstman's Bow allows you to kill enemies in style. Jarate- possibly the strangest weapon ever to appear in the gaming world is Jarate, which is quite literally, a jar filled with urine that you throw at enemies to "scar them for life", de-cloak spies, and douse burning team-mates. Lastly, there is the Razorback, a sheild with "the power of 10,000 volts running through it", which is designed to stop enemy spies from back-stabbing you.

The spy's new weapons however, were in the main, slightly dissapointing. The Ambassador- a very powerful guy, only if you shoot them in the head, and with a crosshair that small, that rarely happens. The Dead Ringer- places a fake deadbody on the ground to trick your enemies into thinking they killed you, so you can get behind them and stab them. And lastly, (and probably least as well) the Cloak and Dagger, a watch so underpowered, it may as well not be used, as true enough, it recharges as you stand still, but has a alarmingly rapid downcharge time if you move a single step.

The last item(s) available, are the appearance of uber-rare hats, which also I felt fail, as I acquired a Football Helmet, however, you cannot see it whilst playing, nor can you see it whilst dead, making it ultimately useless if you can't actually see the damn thing yourself.

Overall, the most recent update has been a mix of highs and lows, however, Valve should be taking some serious countermeasures with their next update, which enables player trading, and the ability to "influence your random drops"

Shoot ^^
